Giftland, the city of gifts , from December 6th to 14th . During the first two weekends of the month , the Vintage Market transforms into the city of the perfect gift, with food, music, and activities for all ages. A 6,000-square-meter market with more than 200 exhibitors from all over Italy, offering crafts, illustrations, ceramics, home decor, design, vinyl records and books, clothing, children's toys, organic cosmetics, Christmas decorations, wreaths, neon lights, plants and flowers, artisanal panettone, and Christmas sweets. Rome's traditional Christmas tree, a majestic natural fir of the Abies nordmanniana species, at least 20 meters tall, lights up the monumental and elegant square from which the Tridente shopping district branches off.
St. Peter's Square
A 25-meter-tall Norway spruce from the Alpine valley of Ultimo, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Placed in Bernini's hemicycle, the tree stands out in the square , the heart of world Christianity, next to a reproduction of the Nativity scene, brought this year from the province of Salerno, featuring elements typical of the Nocera area.

100 Nativity Scenes in the Vatican , from December 8, 2025 to January 6, 2026
The International Exhibition 100 Nativity Scenes in the Vatican returns for its eighth edition, showcasing works by artists from around the world who have expressed their creativity in depicting Nativity scenes. Housed in the evocative space beneath Bernini's Colonnade in St. Peter's Square , the exhibition brings together numerous nativity scenes, true works of art that, as per tradition, are created using a variety of techniques, styles, and materials —from paper to fabric, from cork to wood—and reflect diverse cultures and traditions.
Street Cleaners' Nativity Scene (permanent nativity scene)
Since 1972, Giuseppe Ianni's nativity scene , enriched year after year, faithfully reproduces, in miniature, Palestine of two thousand years ago with scenes of everyday life, including houses, cobblestones, roads, rivers, bridges, and aqueducts, made from the marble of the colonnade of St. Peter's.
Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore
An artistic masterpiece created by Arnolfo di Cambio in 1291, it features eight stone statuettes depicting Mary, Joseph and the Child, the ox, the donkey, and the Magi. The basilica also houses the relic of the Holy Cradle (according to legend, the precious fragments of wood from the famous manger that held Baby Jesus) and the panniculum, recovered at Christmas 2007, a portion of the swaddling clothes in which Mary wrapped Baby Jesus.
